- Create a summer dessert of your choice incorporating one of Sugar Bowl Bakery’s treats. You can choose from Madeleines, Brownie Bites, Palmiers, or Duet Bites to be part of your dessert.
- Take well-lit photos or video of the dessert that you made.
- Post a photo, video or reel of your creation on social media (Facebook, Instagram or TikTok), include #sugarbowldessertchallenge hashtag and BE SURE you are following @sugarbowlbakery. If you have a private account, please also direct message the photos so we can be sure to see your entry.

BY PARTICIPATING IN THE SUGAR BOWL BAKERY SUMMER DESSERT CHALLENGE, (“A CONTEST OF SKILL”), EACH PARTICIPANT REPRESENTS AND WARRANTS THAT THEY MEET THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS DETAILED WITHIN THESE OFFICIAL RULES AND ACKNOWLEDGES THAT FAILURE TO MEET ALL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION. ENTRY CONSTITUTES YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THESE OFFICIAL RULES.
ALL ENTRIES (INCLUDING PHOTOS, VIDEOS, REELS) ARE PERMISSABLE AND SUBJECT TO SHARING VIA SUGAR BOWL BAKERY’S SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS, NEWSLETTERS, WEBSITE OR OTHER COMMUNICATION. SOURCES AS WELL AS PR OPPORTUNITIES PROMOTING THE SUMMER DESSERT CHALLENGE.
Contest begins at 9 AM Eastern Time (“ET”) on July 13th, 2023 and ends at 5 PM (ET) on Aug. 28th 2023 (“Contest Entry Period”).
ELIGIBILITY: Contest is open to legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia. Contestants must be age 18 or older at time of entry (“Entrant” or “You”). Parents or guardians of children under the age of 18 can submit entries on behalf of their children(s). Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited by law. Sugar Bowl Bakery’s decisions to select winners are final and binding on all matters.
HOW TO ENTER: VIST this blog at: https://sugarbowlbakery.com/blogs/recipes/summer-dessert-challenge and follow all onscreen instructions 1-3, to complete an official entry. Posting a photo or video of your dessert is required, as well as tagging at least ONE of Sugar Bowl Bakery’s social media accounts, @sugarbowlbakery is on Meta (Facebook), Instagram. and Tiktok. #sugarbowldessertchallenge hashtag must be used on social media with entry. Entrant’s account does NOT need to be public to be eligible to enter or eligible to be selected as a winner. If your account is private please send a direct message with the dessert photo or video in addition to your post so that the Sugar Bowl Bakery team can see your entry.
Multiple entries by the same Entrant or members of the same family will be accepted but do not increase chances of being selected as a winner. Each Entrant is limited to entering 5 unique desserts.
The photo or video of Summer Dessert Challenge submission must be taken by Entrant (or Entrant must own the rights to the photo if it was not taken by the Entrant). All entries must be received during the Contest Entry Period, 7/13/23-8/28/23. Once you submit your entry, your submission is final and may not be modified or edited. Entrants are subject to all notices posted on Website, including, but not limited to Sugar Bowl Bakery’s Privacy Policy, located at https://sugarbowlbakery.com/policies/privacy-policy. By entering this Challenge, you agree to the use of your personal information as described in the above Privacy Policy.
By submitting dessert photos, Entrant understands and grants permission for the photo/video to be posted on Sugar Bowl Bakery’s website or owned media channels for viewing by visitors or for contest promotion. Sugar Bowl Bakery is not responsible for any unauthorized third party use of any photo submitted.
Entries must comply with the following content guidelines to be eligible:
- Desserts cannot contain trademarks, logos, or trade dress (such as distinctive packaging or building exteriors/interiors) owned by others, or advertise or promote any brand or product of any kind, without permission.
- Desserts cannot contain copyrighted materials owned by others (including photographs, sculptures, paintings, and other works of art or images published on or in websites, television, movies, or other media) without permission;
- Desserts cannot contain materials embodying the names, likenesses, photographs, or other indicia identifying any person, living or dead, without permission;
- Photos should not exceed 50 MB. Photos exceeding 50 MB may still be featured but are not eligible to win.
Sugar Bowl Bakery reserves the right to disqualify any entry for any reason, in its sole and absolute discretion.
At the conclusion of the Sugar Bowl Bakery Dessert Challenge, a panel of judges consisting of Sugar Bowl Bakery personnel (“Judges”) will determine one (1) Contest winner, who will receive a visa gift card valued at $500.00. 3 runners up will be selected to receive a $100.00 Visa Gift Card each.
Judging criteria:
(a) Creativity (40%)
(b) Visual Impact (30%)
(c) Workmanship, i.e. Degree of Difficulty (30%)
Judge’s decisions are final and binding. Only winners will be notified from Sugar Bowl Bakery’s internal team, via direct message only from @sugarbowlbakery account, please be cautious of potential fake accounts that could attempt to contact entrants.
Except where prohibited by law, entry submission grants the Sponsor the right in perpetuity to reproduce, publish, use, edit, adjust, modify, abridge, condense, sublicense, and excerpt such photo and/or comments in any way, in any and all media, without limitation and without compensation to Entrant. Submission of photo in the Contest further constitutes Entrant’s consent to irrevocably assign and transfer to Sponsor any and all rights, title, and interest in and to the photo, including, without limitation, all copyrights. The Sponsor may publish and/or promote photo, or a portion of a photo. If a photo, or a portion of photo is selected for publication and/or promotional purposes, it does not imply that it is a winning photo in this Contest, nor does it create a confidential relationship between you and the Sponsor or any of its respective affiliates or subsidiaries.
Photo dialog/audio must be in English and must be the original work of the Entrant, may not have been previously published, may not have won previous awards, and must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property, or other rights of any person or entity. If the photo contains any material or elements that are not owned by the Entrant and/or which are subject to the rights of third parties, the Entrant is responsible for obtaining, prior to submission of the photo, any and all releases and consents necessary to permit the use and exhibition of the photo by Sponsor in the manner set forth in these Official Rules, including, without limitation, name and likeness permissions from any person who appears in or is identifiable in the photo. If any identifiable person appearing in the photo is under the age of majority in his or her state of residence, the parent or legal guardian is required to provide permission. Sponsor reserves the right to request proof of these permissions in a form acceptable to Sponsor from any Entrant at any time. By submitting a photo, the Entrant (or, if an eligible minor, his or her parent or legal guardian) warrants and represents that he, she, and/or any persons appearing or who are identifiable in the photo consent to the submission and use of the photo in this Contest, and to its posting on Website or social media feed, in connection with the Contest. Entrant agrees to fully indemnify, defend and hold harmless Sugar Bowl Bakery from any, and all third-party infringement claims that may arise out of its breach of these representations and warranties.
CONTEST PRIZES Visa is not, in any way, associated with Sugar Bowl Bakery or this Contest. Gift cards will not be replaced if lost, stolen or mis-used.
WINNER NOTIFICATION: The odds of winning are dependent on the number of entries received. Winner must respond within 30 calendar days of the end of Contest Date. Prizes are awarded within 90 days after winner is contacted. Prizes are not redeemable for cash and are non-assignable or transferable. All federal, state and local income taxes on the prizes and all other costs associated with acceptance or use of the prizes are the sole responsibility of the winners. Arrangements for delivery of prizes will be made after winner validation. Unclaimed prizes shall not be awarded.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY: Entrants agree to these Official Rules and the decisions of the judges and the Sponsor, and on their behalf, and on behalf of their respective heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, successors, and assigns (“Releasing Parties”), release, defend, and hold harmless the Contest Entities, as well as the employees, officers, directors, and agents of each (“Released Parties”), from any and all actions, causes of action, suits, debts, dues, sums of money, accounts, reckonings, bonds, bills, specialties, covenants, contracts, controversies, agreements, promises, variances, trespasses, lost profits, indirect or direct damages, consequential damages, incidental damages, punitive or exemplary damages, judgments, extent, executions, claims and demands whatsoever, in law, admiralty or equity, whether known or unknown, foreseen or unforeseen, against Released Parties which any one or more of the Releasing Parties ever had, now have or hereafter can, shall or may have which in any way arise out of or result from Entrant’s participation, acceptance and use or misuse of any prize, including, but not limited to: (a) any technical errors associated with the Promotion, including lost, interrupted or unavailable internet service provider, network, server, wireless service provider, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellited, telephone, cellular tower or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties; (b) unauthorized human intervention in the Contest; (c) mechanical, network, electronic, computer, human, printing or typographical errors; (d) any other errors or problems in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, errors that may occur in the administration of the Contest, the selection or announcement of the winners, the cancellation or postponement of the event; or (e) injury, death, losses or damages of any kind, to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrants’ participation in the Contest or acceptance, receipt or misuse of the prize. By participating in this Contest, entrants waive all rights to claim punitive, indirect, incidental and consequential damages, attorneys’ fees or any damages other than actual out-of-pocket costs incurred to participate.
GENERAL RULES: All applicable federal, state and local laws apply. Contest Parties are not responsible for: (i) electronic or digital transmissions or entries that are lost, late, stolen, incomplete, illegible, damaged, garbled, destroyed, or misdirected; (ii) any problems or technical malfunctions, errors, omissions, interruptions, deletions, defects, delays in operation of transmission, communication failures (including but not limited to failures or malfunctions of phone lines, telephone systems or other communications systems), destruction of or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries; (iii) failed or unavailable hardware, network, software or telephone transmissions; (iv) damage to entrants' or any person's computer; (v) causes beyond Contest Parties’ reasonable control that jeopardize the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest; (vi) incorrect or inaccurate entry information whether caused by entrants or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (vii) any typographical or other error in the printing or advertising related to the Contest, in the administration or execution of the Contest, or in the announcement/notification of prize winners; or (viii) cheating or fraud by any participant. All incomplete or non-conforming entries will be disqualified.
If for any reason this Contest cannot be executed as planned, including but not limited to infection by virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor that corrupt or affect the security, administration, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest, or if this Contest is compromised or becomes corrupted in any way, electronically or otherwise, Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to suspend or terminate this Contest. If the Contest is terminated before the stated end date of the Contest Period, the Sponsor will select any remaining winners in a random drawing from among all eligible, non-suspect entries received through all entry methods combined as of the time/date of termination.
Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify and prosecute any individual who tampers with or attempts to tamper with the entry process or who enters using any automatic or programmed entry duplication method, or any entry service.
CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY ANY PERSON TO DELIBERATELY CORRUPT OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS. SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DISQUALIFY, PROSECUTE AND SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of the person submitting an entry, the entry will be declared made by the person in whose name the entry was made
DISPUTES/VENUE/GOVERNING LAW: By participating, entrants agree that (1) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, this Contest or any prize awarded (if applicable) shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in the county of Los Angeles, California; (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including but not limited to costs associated with entering this Contest but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (3) to the extent allowed by applicable law, under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental and/or consequential damages and/or any other damages, other than out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased.
All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules or the rights and obligations of any participant or Sponsor in connection with the Contest shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the internal laws of the State of California without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions that would cause the application of any other state's laws.
The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these Official Rules shall otherwise remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein.
In the event there is a discrepancy or inconsistency between disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest-related materials or notifications and the terms and conditions of these Official Rules, these Official Rules shall prevail, govern and control.
